Arcticom was established in 2004 to supply high end radio communication sales and service in the Alaska region. In the year of its inception, Arcticom invested in Area wide Communication infrastructure in two locations; the Anchorage bowl, and the Mat-Su Valley. This service established Arcticom as the go to experts in our field for rough terrain service.
Arcticom is a Motorola Solutions full line dealer and communications sales and service provider. In 2006, Arcticom was the leader in sales and service for the Canopy Wireless product. This same year, Arcticom invested in their infrastructure and upgraded from an analog system to a mototbro digital trucking system. This upgrade ensured Arcticom's longevity and solidiﬁed its place as the leader in communications in the state of Alaska.
In 2013 Arcticom was acquired by Bering Straits Native Corporation. BSNC is an Alaska Native Corporation that was established by the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971. BSNC is owned by more than 7,300 Alaska Native shareholders and actively pursues responsible development of resources and other business opportunities.
Since Arcticom was acquired by BSNC, it has moved to its new home at 144 East Potter Drive Unit "C" in Anchorage Alaska.
Bruce D. Hellenga has spent the last 38 years in Business Management with a focus on Loss Control, Operations, Human Resources and Business Development. Mr. Hellenga has spent the last eight years as a Subsidiary Operations Manager for Bering Straits Native Corporation. Mr. Hellenga manages the everyday Operational requirements for many of BSNC's subsidiary government contracts. Mr. Hellenga has excelled in providing leadership in the startup phase as well as operational management of many of BSNC's current contracts. Mr. Hellenga has oversight responsibilities for the Alaska Land Mobile Radio System (ALMR) in Alaska. This 10 year project manages and maintains this very important Emergency Response P25 Trunking Radio System used by all Federal and State Agencies operating in Alaska. Mr. Hellenga is the General Manager/ Operations Manager for Arcticom LLC a commercial wireless two way radio communications company that supports the ALMR project by providing the maintenance requirements for the system and performs as the Federal Manufactures Representative for the Motorola Corporation in Alaska. As a BSNC Subsidiary Operations Manager Mr. Hellenga has the responsibility to support the 26 subsidiary companies and has taken a major role in their Safety/ Loss Control efforts. Under Mr. Hellenga's leadership BSNC and its Subsidiaries have become an industry leader in promoting a safe work place.
Richard Foster serves as the President of Arcticom. He joined Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) as vice president of business development in 2004 following a successful 28-year-long career in the U.S. Air Force. From 1996 to 1998, Foster served as command chief (senior enlisted advisor) for the wing commander at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. Other positions include commandant of the Non-Commissioned Ofﬁcers Academy from 1993-1996, where he managed more than $5 million in assets and planned long-range activities for professional military education in Alaska, and chief of the Aircraft and Munitions Maintenance Engineering Branch, where he provided on-site management for 105 aircraft and more than 2,000 maintenance technicians throughout Alaska. Foster holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and technical quality management (TQM).
