About Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC)

Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) was established in 1972 under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) as the regional Alaska Native corporation for the Bering Strait region. This region spans most of Alaska’s Seward Peninsula and the coastal areas of eastern Norton Sound.

Mission Statement

BSNC’s mission is to improve the quality of life for its shareholders through sustainable economic development, while protecting the land and preserving cultural heritage.

The Bering Strait region is one of the most culturally diverse areas in Alaska, with three Native languages spoken: Siberian Yupik, Central Yup’ik, and Inupiaq. Since its founding with 6,333 original shareholders, BSNC has grown to manage nearly two million acres of subsurface land selected by 17 village corporations.

Headquartered in Nome, Alaska, BSNC’s operations span a diverse portfolio, including real estate management and development, tourism, construction, mining services, and the sale of rock and aggregate materials. BSNC also maintains an Anchorage office that oversees federal contracting activities under SBA 8(a), HUBZone, and other small business programs, in addition to supporting construction, technical services, and shareholder services. BSNC is scheduled to graduate from the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program in 2026, reflecting its continued growth and long-term success in the federal marketplace.
